Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VDI Engineer with expertise in VMWare Horizon to join our dynamic IT team. As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions using VMWare Horizon. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of VDI projects while maintaining the highest levels of system performance, availability, and security.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Design and architect VDI solutions based on business requirements and best practices.
- Deploy and configure infrastructure components, including Connection Servers, Security Servers, Composer, and other related technologies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate them into technical specifications.
- Perform VDI infrastructure installations, upgrades, and patches in accordance with established procedures and industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including architectural diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
- Monitor VDI infrastructure performance, troubleshoot and resolve any issues, and proactively identify areas for optimization and improvement.
- Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis to ensure the VDI infrastructure meets current and future demands.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate VDI solutions with existing systems and services.
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of new VDI technologies, tools, and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, standards, and regulations throughout the VDI infrastructure.
Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a VDI Engineer, with a focus on VMWare Horizon.
- Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and supporting VMWare Horizon VDI environments, including managing multiple pools, creating golden images, and optimizing performance.
- Solid understanding of networking and storage concepts as they relate to VDI infrastructure.
- Proven ability to lead VDI projects from inception to completion, including requirements gathering, solution design, implementation, and documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex VDI-related issues.
Licensure
- Relevant certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) are highly desirable.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for periods greater than 4 hours.
