The Software Engineering team is hiring for a Web Software Engineer.

Web software engineers at Cboe are tasked with designing and implementing applications, user interfaces and components that are critical to maintaining operational and customer readiness. This requires careful attention to detail, knowledge of algorithms and data structures, and ability to design testable and scalable systems. Cboe web services are running 24x7, and web engineers are responsible for ensuring uptime and resilience for our internal customers, our external customers, and the investing public.

We build websites that handle millions of requests per day, presenting high-quality market data to our members and the investing public. We operate at the tip of the spear, maintaining the primary interface for command and control of Cboe markets worldwide. We are aggressive, yet agile. We care about user experience. Your responsibilities will be:
  • Design, implement, extend, and maintain functionality for our applications and systems.
  • Provide input into project scheduling and participate in projects where needed.
  • With assistance, refactor and enhance functionality within the underlying frameworks used by the system.
  • Assist with project schedules to meet deadlines.


The ideal candidate has:
  • Good Python, React/JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and Linux knowledge.
  • Basic understanding of UI/UX and human factors principles.
  • Experience working in SQL and familiarity with relational databases.
  • Experience using MS Office platforms.
  • Minimum Years of Work Experience: 2 years
  • Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Assertive personality and detail oriented with excellent communication skills.
  • Expertise with Django, Next.js and/or Tailwind CSS in a large codebase.

As required by the New York City Human Rights Law, Cboe provides a reasonable range of minimum base salary for roles that may be performed in New York City. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, level of experience, etc. For New York City only, the range of starting base salary for this role is $92,000-$151,800. Additional incentive compensation and benefits may be available.
