About the role
As an HSE Inspector, you will assist in the development of procedures and operational guidance within the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) program.
This position is on-site in Forest City, North Carolina.
What you’ll do
- Provide specific support for monitoring injury, illness, and incident related performance. Support the development and implementation of strategic solutions which may improve the performance results as the need arises.
- Examine permits, licenses, applications, and records to ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain inspection records. Investigate complaints and suspected violations. Monitor follow-up actions in cases where violations were found, and review compliance monitoring reports.
- Support the specific HSE plans, playbooks, and procedures as assigned by manager/supervisor.
- Advise management team and client/groups and/or employees of control regulations and inspection findings. Explain how violations can be corrected.
- Support and aide in cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives as advised.
- May act as a HSE Subject Matter Expert (SME) for client and/or the field.
- Other duties may be assigned.
What you’ll need
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Minimum four years of HSE related experience.
- Fundamental knowledge of federal, state and local health and safety, and environmental regulations preferred. Direct experience dealing with regulatory agencies and / or compliance officers is helpful.
- Certificates and/or Licenses by local authority (if required).
- Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees.
- Requires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
- Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems. Requires basic analytical skills.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work with a sense of urgency.
