About The Job: Chanel, a leader in the luxury goods industry, seeks a Specialist, Buying – Handbags for the US Fashion Division. This individual is responsible for supporting the seasonal merchandising strategy and assisting in development of unique seasonal assortments in accordance with global and regional strategies for the US. What Impact You Can Create at CHANEL: Business Management Support the Leather Goods Buying team in the creation and implementation of strategic initiatives to drive the business across seasonal collection and core reorder segments Assist in creatively determining the product assortments every collection (6x/year) for all US Boutiques, taking into consideration sales volume/plans, balance of breadth/depth, strategic vision by Boutique, and market nuances Manage product transfers and consolidations to maintain balanced inventory throughout the network in partnership with Planning Monitoring and identifying business opportunities and challenges by market, you’ll help to create business recaps with recommendations Develop expert knowledge on Chanel’s price positioning as well as the competitive landscape of the US market Build close partnerships with counterparts on other product category teams (Small Leathergoods, Ready-to-Wear and Shoes) to ensure a holistic brand approach on collection assortments and strategies Work closely with Visual Merchandising to ensure boutique presentation supports the seasonal business strategies & messages Develop strong partnerships with internal departments: Boutique Leaders, Planning, Global Product Merchandising, Operations, Visual Merchandising, Education, Style Expertise, Client Engagement, Public Relations, and Account Services Actively follow the industry and seasonal trends, while also having a strong pulse on the competitive market and key influencers Reporting & Analysis Accountability and ownership of in-season and market prep reporting including analyses of sales, sell-thru, inventory, months of supply and shipments in Excel/Power BI/Sales Dashboards Conduct/summarize deep dive and ad hoc analysis on the business to impact future strategies Ability to present weekly, monthly, quarterly, and seasonal analysis reviews of the category’s performance (by boutique, segmentation, classification, style, and color, etc.) Boutique Support Support delivery of seasonal product vision to boutique teams and provide product knowledge tools and shipping updates Creatively drive engagement to promote styling, storytelling, and craftsmanship in partnership with Education and Style Expertise teams Act as the primary resource for the Boutique and field teams to address high volumes of client requests Actively communicate with Boutique teams to maintain pulse on clients, local market needs, and competitive landscape Conduct Boutique visits for trainings, events, and business conversations in partnership with the Senior Manager, Buying—Leather Goods You are energized by: Having a strong analytical mindset and exhibiting retail math skills. You are comfortable independently formulating theories and drawing conclusions from large, complex sets of data. You can look at information and interpret it in a clear and concise manner, with a suggested action plan Possessing advanced Excel skills (vlookup, sumproduct, pivot tables, etc.) and Power Point skills (animation, slide master formatting, embedding charts/graphs, etc.) Having strong written, presentation and verbal communication skills Expressing curiosity, intuition, drive, authenticity, and self-awareness Exuding enthusiasm, energy, and an ability to inspire others about retail and product. You’ll have a strong aesthetic understanding and demonstrated taste level Proactivity, agility, and resiliency – you’ll be comfortable with complexity and ambiguity Being innately service minded with proven ability to create and foster cross-functional relationships What you will bring to the team: Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree Required Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years in a buying related strategic/analytical role Position Logistics: Position requires weekend hours during buying sessions (6x per year) Partially Remote: Role requires a minimum of three days in-person office presence at the designated location/office. Travel Requirements: Some domestic travel *Chanel, Inc. reserves the right to edit, change, or make exceptions on designations where circumstances where deemed appropriate. Compensation: The anticipated base salary range for this position is $52,800 through $90,000. Base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position. Other forms of variable pay [may/will] be offered for this position. Other components [may/will] include bonus potential, benefits, and/or perks.
