Job Title EEG Technologist Apprentice Location Cleveland Facility Cleveland Clinic Main Campus Department Job Code C99882 Shift Evening/Night Rotation Schedule 3:00pm-11:30pm/11:00pm-7:30am Job Summary Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager, the EEG (Electroencephalogram) Technologist Apprentice functions as a trainee and follows established policies and procedures to support functions essential to the operations of the Epilepsy Center. The EEG Technologist Apprentice will receive training and instruction in performing electroencephalographic examinations and/or epilepsy monitoring. The apprenticeship program will help build, develop, and train aspiring individuals into a successful healthcare career. The apprenticeship is slated to start Monday, March 27th 2023. Shift & Schedule: Initial training will begin on 1st Shift: 8AM-5PM for 8-12 weeks. Thereafter, the work shift will move exclusively to 2nd Shift 3PM-11:30PM and/or 11PM-7:30AM. Applicants must have availability to work 2nd and 3rd Shifts. Location: The apprenticeship will float between Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, Fairview Hospital, and Avon Hospital. Job Details Responsibilities: Applies suitable electrodes on predetermined measured positions and selecting appropriate montages. Calibrates and adjusts equipment Observes patients with video and digital recording equipment; ensures EEG and tape are lined up exactly; checks focus, lighting and microphone Abstracts relevant patient information from clinical record and obtains additional information by questioning. Applies electrodes, respiration monitors and EKG Other duties assigned Education: High School Diploma or GED Knowledge of physical and biological sciences normally attained through high school course work with emphasis in those areas Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Languages: English Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within one month of hire. Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment. Must be able to work in a dynamic ever changing environment and take appropriate action. Work Experience: Minimum six months direct patient care experience One year post-secondary education may substitute for experience. Physical Requirements: A high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a PC< normal or corrected vision, extensive sitting and frequent walking, occasional lifting or carrying 50 pounds Ability to assist with positioning and transporting patients, i.e. pushing beds, carts and wheelchairs. Ability to maneuver equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
