Job Title Exercise Physiologist Location Avon Facility The Richard Jacobs Hlth Ctr Department Cardiovascular Med Region-Heart Vascular and Thoracic Institute Job Code D22026 Shift Days Schedule 7:00am-7:00pm Job Summary Develops exercise prescription and oversees exercise progression in patients with cardiovascular disease in a rehabilitative setting. This position will be covering both cardiac and pulmonary rehab for the expansion. Candidates must have their masters degree and the ACLS is preferred (must get within 90 days of hire if you dont have this)! There are no weekends or holidays and the schedule will be 3 12 hour shifts. Job Details Responsibilities: Provides patient testing before and after rehabilitation including strength, body composition, flexibility, balance and endurance. Provides exercise prescription for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen; updates prescription according to patient response. Implements concepts of cardiac secondary prevention. Recognizes contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient responses to exercise. Responds appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals. Provides exercise information for patients, peers and the community which may include public speaking and education classes. Other duties as assigned. Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in exercise-related field. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider. Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Work Experience: None required. Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time and ability to help patients stand and walk. Will require some lifting, bending, twisting of upper extremity to help limited patients. Must be able to adapt to different room temperatures in exercise. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
