What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN/RN Unit Manager position at CCH Healthcare?
Greens at Maple Leaf is seeking a full-time LPN/RN Unit Manager to supervise day-to-day nursing activities for a busy Skilled unit facility in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
LPN/RN Unit Manager Responsibilities:
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
- Assist the DON/ADON in directing day-to-day nursing activities.
- On call rotation with 3 other nurse managers.
- Ensure that reference material (i.e., PDR'S, Federal and State Regulations, etc.) maintained at the nurses' stations is current.
- Ensure that all nursing service personnel comply with the procedures set forth in the Nursing Service Procedures Manual.
- Assist in coordinating nursing with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the residents' total regimen of care.
- Meet with the nursing staff, as well as support personnel, in planning the department's services, programs, and activities.
- Complete accident/incident reports as necessary.
- Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary.
- Develop work assignments, and/or assist in completing and performing such tasks.
- Inform nursing service personnel of new admissions, their expected time of arrival, room assignment, etc.
- Ensure that rooms are ready for new admissions.
- Greet newly admitted residents upon admission. Escort them to their rooms as necessary.
- Make rounds with physicians as necessary.
- Provide direct nursing care as necessary.
- Ensure adequate stock of medications, supplies, equipment, etc., is maintained at all times to meet the needs of residents.
- Ensure personnel involved in providing care to the resident are aware of the resident's care plan.
- Include on call rotation

LPN/RN Unit Manager Qualifications:
- Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved LPN/RN program.
- Must have, as a minimum, 2 year(s) of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN or LPN.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
