POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Medicine Physician to join the Refugee Health Assessment (RHA) Program at CCI Health Services. As a Family Medicine Physician, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered, and comprehensive medical examinations to refugees and asylees of all ages. The position encompasses a range of responsibilities aimed at meeting the federal and state requirements for this program by addressing the unique healthcare needs of this population. As a Physician, you will need to be flexible, patient, and culturally humble when working with such a diverse patient population.
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered primary care services to refugees and asylees of all ages.
- Conduct comprehensive medical examinations that screen for a wide range of infectious diseases and non-communicable diseases for each patient within a 90-day window frame. This will include screenings and tests such as: HIV, lead, intestinal parasites, tuberculosis, hepatitis, and malaria
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements, best practices, and clinical guidelines in refugee health and integrate them into clinical practice
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans, ensuring continuity of care and appropriate referrals to specialists
- Educate and counsel patients and their families on preventive care, lifestyle modifications, and disease management strategies, tailored to their individual needs and circumstances
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including regular chart audits, patient satisfaction surveys, and compliance with relevant healthcare regulations and standards, along with state-based requirements for data collection and reporting.
- Actively contribute to a culturally diverse and inclusive work environment by fostering respect, understanding, and sensitivity towards patients and colleagues
- May provide supervision for Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners and provide consultation to other providers at CCI.
- May instruct medical students and/or residents in procedures, diagnoses and treatment plans for this specific population.
- Complete all required documentation and review within CCI’s electronic health record in the specified time frames.
- Meets average monthly provider productivity standards, such as number of visits
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Refugee Health Assessment Program Clinical Director or designee.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school OR Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
- Board certification in Family Medicine
- Valid and unrestricted medical or Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Maryland (CDS and DEA licenses)
- Current BLS certifications.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain medical concepts and treatment options to patients in a clear and compassionate manner
- Strong commitment to cultural competence, diversity, and inclusion
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a positive work environment
- Knowledge of the structure of Federally Qualified Health Centers, a plus
- Experience with electronic medical records required.
- Fluency in English is required; fluency in additional languages (i.e., Pashtu, Dari, Spanish, Haitian-Creole) is a plus
