Job Description:
As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by: Perform Level of Service analysis and provide design recommendation to accommodate future traffic; Summarizing study results and communicating results to clients (5%). Assist with Traffic and Revenue (T&R) studies. Tasks include: Data collection and summarization; Conduct Risk Analysis using Mont Carlo procedures. Develop distributions and developing parameters related to socioeconomics and value of time; Participate in T&R quality review (10%). Develop traffic estimates for pavement design and lane closure analysis; Conduct signal warrant analysis, intersection safety studies, and turn lane analysis; Conduct safety analysis to identify hotspots, develop traffic projections, analyze existing and future traffic conditions, provide mitigation measures and assist planners in developing environment impact statements (5%). Understand and apply the local and state department of transportation design standards while developing the plans; Coordinate task work with CADD staff and assist in plan preparation; Attend project design meetings, and coordinate with roadway, drainage, structures, and utilities groups (5%). Collaborate with engineers to research, analyze or resolve complex transportation conceptual/schematic design issues (5%). Prepare traffic engineering and transportation planning reports (5%). Perform site reviews and studies to ensure designs are aligned with local specifications. Update design requirements as necessary; Inspect new construction and existing transportation structures as necessary (5%). Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and sign off on completed designs; Ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs; Sign and seal engineering designs as necessary (15%). Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff; Mentor more junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm (5%). Prepare and design traffic count and safety studies; Review proposed transportation project sites for alignment with draft designs and plans (25%). May work from home up to 3 days per week.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess at least a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field and at least 7 years of progressive work experience as a Transportation Engineer. In the alternative, at least a master's degree or its equivalent in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field and 6 years of experience as a Transportation Engineer. Must also possess the following: must have 6 years of traffic modeling software experience with VISSIM, Synchro, HCS; must have 5 years of experience using safety analysis tools such as HSM, SPICE, ISATe and IHSMD; must have 6 years of expertise in traffic engineering studies, traffic operational analysis, crash analysis, signal timing and Project Development and Environment (PD&E) studies; must be a licensed Professional Engineer registered with the Florida Board of Professional Engineers.
