What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Field-Office Technician position at CDR Companies?
CDR Maguire Engineering is seeking a Survey Field-Office Technician to join the growing Survey Team in our Allentown, PA office. This position offers the opportunity to perform field as well as office work under the direction of a Licensed Surveyor and collaboratively with other surveyors and engineers on projects for state, regional, local, and private clients.
The ideal candidate will assist and support surveyors in field operating both GPS and conventional survey equipment to measure and map existing site features, preparing field notes, and obtaining field measurements. Including, assisting in the office reducing and processing field data, performing courthouse research, plotting deeds, perform basic calculations to verify the accuracy of survey data, and generating drawings.
The successful candidate will have a command of fundamental surveying principles, tools, and software including a familiarity with field-to-finish automated survey workflows.

Job Duties will include the following:
- Work as part of a survey crew using various types of survey equipment such as levels, total stations, GPS, and UAS
- Assist in surveying boundary and topography surveys, various types of route surveys, engineering surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, various types of layout surveys, bathymetric surveys and control surveys
- Collect field notes using both paper and electronic field books
- Process field collected data using computer software
- Gain experience in drafting survey related mapping plans utilizing AutoCAD and Microstation CAD platforms
- Perform research of deeds and maps at the courthouse
- Use and maintain state of the art survey equipment
- Perform various field task requiring the clearing of brush, traversing through suburban, urban and rural areas, and carrying of equipment and/or supplies.
- Occasional travel may be required

Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Surveying and/or survey experience
- SIT preferred
- Experience with Bentley InRoads, AutoCAD and/or OpenRoads is a plus
- Proficiency in MS Office software
- Well organized and detail oriented
- Self-motivated with the ability to work within a team setting
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges
- A valid driver's license
