Summary

The Creative Director supervises the creation and development of strategically-driven, multi-channel direct response concepts and creative—both copy and design—that communicate our nonprofit client’s fundraising and marketing objectives.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversees the development of all copy and design for client fundraising campaigns and industry-related projects as assigned.
  • Develops and delivers new print and digital direct-response creative and test strategies and concepts that meet client objectives and goals.
  • Works closely with client services and creative teams to review, evaluate, and plan clients’ multi-channel fundraising campaign strategies and tactics.
  • Monitors and manages team activity to ensure timely delivery of work.
  • Works with new business development team to contribute to proposals for current and prospective clients.
  • Contributes to all phases of the client program development—planning, messaging, design, integration, implementation, management, and reporting.
  • Provides creative and management direction and skills development support to direct reports.
  • Supervises and trains creative staff in fundraising copy and design best practices.
  • Management responsibilities include motivating team members to achieve business objectives. Management of staff to include hiring, performance evaluations and discipline, as required; training, development, and mentoring of direct reports and other staff, as necessary.
  • Attends and participates in leadership team meetings, and industry-related conferences.
  • Works with other managers on internal cross-departmental processes and procedures.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of eight years of management level experience in a creative department required.
  • Four-year degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Proficiency is required in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Creative Directors with design backgrounds should be proficient with InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro; Experience/Knowledge of Premier Pro, HTML5, Flash, XD a plus.
  • Exceptional knowledge and experience in creative, multi-channel print and digital fundraising copy and design development and execution.
  • Strong understanding of direct response fundraising strategic and tactical communications practices and programs.
  • Strategic, highly conceptual thinker and problem solver.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment to develop effective creative that achieves clients’ fundraising goals.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects; a resourceful self-starter who can initiate and deliver projects.
  • Ability to adapt to change and prioritize shifting opportunities and conditions.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate internally and externally to sell ideas and foster relationships.
  • Effectively manages and develops personnel.
  • Stays current with client initiatives, industry trends and opportunities for innovation.
  • Other key competencies include quality management, adaptability, initiative and innovation, sound judgement, outstanding problem-solving abilities, and strong interpersonal skills.
