What are the responsibilities and job description for the Unit Process Controls Engineer position at Celanese International Corporation?
Responsibilities
Provide technical/process control support to production units, environmental activities, and plant projects to improve unit stewardship, quality, and reliability. Be capable of providing support for both Honeywell TDC and Delta V DCS platforms.
Additionally:
- Troubleshoot and correct issues with the unit process control systems
- Implementation and testing of design modifications to process control systems
- Software configuration of control logic and graphical displays of design modifications to process control systems
- Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering and other Process Control Engineers to understand and address specific process area control system challenges and opportunities
- Install and configure DCS/PLC network hardware, software and peripheral equipment
- Develop an automation and instrumentation strategy to drive process improvements and manage relationships with DCS vendor and 3rd party programmers
- Providing and maintaining documentation for all DCS, SIS and PLC systems, including logic diagrams, logic narratives, SIL verification calculations, safety requirement specifications, and application software.
- Developing and maintaining a high level of technical and functional knowledge of logic solvers and field instrumentation
- Responsible for loop tuning
- Overseeing and managing DCS Alarm Management System, including monitoring and reducing "bad actor" alarms and working with other functional disciplines for alarm set point validation and verification
- Monitoring DCS, SIS and PLC system performance, including software updates and maintenance strategies
- Support SIS systems, including SIS functional checkouts, PLC programming and maintenance, SIS bypasses, etc.
- Support efforts to leverage existing control system to maximize unit safety and productivity
Develop and implement control scheme logic
Qualifications
Required:
- BS ChE or EE
- Typically 5 years Process Controls Engineering experience, or Process Engineering experience with relevant controls background
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple, simultaneous assignments as an individual contributor, as well as part of a cross-functional team
- Hands on experience working with DCS hardware and software, PLC's and data historians.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively facilitate technical discussions.
- Advanced computer skills, including MS Office and SAP
- Experience with Honeywell TDC3000 Required
- Experienced with Triconex SIS, OSI PI Data Historian, and Plant State Suite preferred
- Experience with PSM and SIS preferred
- Working knowledge of instruments, analyzers and graphics development preferred
