Unit Manager is the Operations Area Leader
This is an onsite, in-person position located at: 8480 DuPont Road, Washington, WV 26101
(in the Autoclave area at the Washington Works facility)
Celanese is seeking an experienced candidate to serve as the Autoclave Area Manager at the Parkersburg, West Virginia site. The Autoclave process at Washington Works is a high hazard process which utilizes batch operations to produce different specialty nylon grades and other specialty polymers. This process is part of the Engineered Materials (EM) division of Celanese and reports to the site’s Operations Leader.
The Autoclave Area Manager position has accountability for managing:
- Autoclaves operation
- Raw material unloading processes from railcars and supersacks.
- Nylon reactors and storage tanks
- Pellet blending and packaging operations.
Lead approximately 100 operations and area support personnel and manage annual budget of ~ $20M. The Area Manager will be responsible for providing strategic guidance to technical and maintenance resources for establishing priorities and direction. This position requires a wide range of management and technical skills and a thorough understanding of plant systems, processes, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- At least 5-10 years of industrial/manufacturing plant experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of the elements of Process Safety Management.
- Experience with safety systems including safety improvement processes, audits and developing safe behaviors.
- Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, solve, or help others solve equipment and/or process issues.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills for coaching and developing others.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment around operational discipline.
- Demonstrated teambuilding and consensus building experience.
- Demonstrated influential leadership skills in previous areas of responsibility.
- Demonstrated personal behavior that models and drives accountability for maintaining Celanese Core Values
- Demonstrated leadership of root cause investigations
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- High hazard chemical manufacturing experience, including Line Leadership
- Lean Management or Six Sigma certification
- Experience in building higher performing empowered work teams.
- Knowledge of Celanese and OSHA standards and regulations.
- Experience with SAP is a strong asset, but training will be provided.
Responsibilities:

- Coaches and develops direct reports and cultivates an atmosphere of learning and development of personnel.
- Supports Washington Works site improvement initiatives through leadership and participation on site teams.
- Demonstrates leadership with strong field presence and engaging with others.
