What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wine Associate position at Cellar Beast Winehouse?
The Event and Tasing Room Wine Associate position is a fun and educational part-time opportunity. The position will focus on representing Cellar Beast Winehouse at events and markets, as well as the possibility to work part time in our Easton tasting room. Customer education, table service, bar service, and a friendly experience to guests is central to the position. The main focus is to provide education of our wines, while confidently engaging with customers, make recommendations and encourage sales, in a professional and friendly way. Off-site event travel, set up and organization is necessary for this position. Wine Industry / Hospitality Industry experience is desired, but not required - we are willing to train the right people!
Essential Duties (including, but not limited to):
- Check in with Events Manager
- Follow opening and closing procedures
- Effectively operate POS system (Square)
- Follow protocols for all inventory procedures
- Participate in all retail tasting room business functions, including serving, busing, food/wine prep, greeting, register, bar, etc.
- Participate in organization and cleaning of the Winery - both indoors and out
- Adhere to all House Policies, PLCB regulations, and CDC guidelines
- Drive to events & set up display
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Expectations:
- Ability to work most weekends and some holidays
- Maintain a friendly, courteous, and engaging demeanor with both customers and staff
- Ability to work under pressure and multitask while sustaining a positive and friendly attitude
- Highly motivated and team-oriented
- Maintain knowledge of the wine portfolio, perform tastings, and be able to make recommendations to customers
- Maintain a professional image
- Follow and uphold all Winery policies
- Attend education sessions
- Submit in a timely fashion, monthly work availability to Events Manager
Education and Experience:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in hospitality, customer service, sales, food & beverage, or events is preferred but not required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry 40lbs
- Ability to stand and work at a bar / event table for long periods
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: Starting rate of $14.00 hr with an increase upon completing L1 Sommelier Certification
