Job Description
FUJIFILM Cellular Dynamics, Inc in Madison, WI is recruiting for a leader with proven management skills to lead our ocular therapeutics initiatives. Qualified individuals need to be inspired to support the development of therapeutics and/or life science products and tools to support research endeavors.
In this role you will direct Ocular Therapeutics projects development within FCDI, managing directly and indirectly a diverse team of scientists and engineers responsible for protocol and process development, process scaling, assay development, technology transfer and product characterization. Manage budgets for directly managed activities and ensures support is available for the projects on a matrixed basis as needed. Communicate effectively with program leadership and senior management on project status, opportunities, and risks. Monitor emerging research and available technologies and advances the companies capabilities to meet business needs.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide leadership and oversight for the ocular therapeutics project team to ensure on-time development and milestones achievement.
- Oversee protocol, process, assay development and characterization experiments related to the projects and ensure sound scientific approach.
- Identify and implement new and emerging technologies to enable project success.
- Manage staff workloads and ensure adequate and skilled staffing available to meet all project requirements.
- Work with the project and alliance management team to maintain timelines and support external partnerships and collaborations.
- Develop, motivate, train and retain a professional staff of scientists.
- Lead projects as needed.
- Other job functions as assigned.

Qualifications
- Ph.D. in biological sciences, biomedical engineering, or related fields.
- 8 years of relevant experience in protocol, process and/or assay development in a Biotech or Pharma setting including project leadership roles. Experience in stem cell biology and cell therapy preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing technical staff.
- Capability to develop deep knowledge of the relevant biology and technologies.
- Demonstrated proficiency in communicating effectively with and influencing all levels of an organization.
- Demonstrated leadership working in a complex corporate structure and an ability to influence across departmental boundaries to affect positive change.
- Proven track record of attention to detail, ability to create and maintain organized and clear project deliverables (timelines, milestones, risks, issues, development reports, regulatory documents, presentations, etc.).
- High level of intellectual curiosity and is comfortable with ambiguity.
- Proven ability to be flexible and willing to accept new responsibilities as needed.
- Travel up to 10%
