What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP Program Management position at Celtic Bank?

Celtic Bank is growing and is ready to add a VP Program Management. This Program Manager role will lead the successful planning, execution, and delivery of complex, bank-wide initiatives and programs. Success will include a broad range of activities – from detailed project management, to holistic program delivery across the bank and various partners, to vendor and professional services partnership management, to key product decisions – and no day or week will likely be the same.

As a VP Program Manager you’ll engrain yourself in the details and with the leadership team to ensure risks, dependencies, and decisions are carefully made and managed. A background in financial services will be key to your successfully leading and influencing these impactful, bank-wide efforts. Initially, this role will lead the bank’s core vendor replacement program.


WHAT YOU’LL DO AT CELTIC BANK

  • Bank-wide leader for complex, bank-wide initiatives and programs. This role will be connected to and ensure each department, group, and leader at the Bank is connected to each initiative and involved at the appropriate level. This role will ensure each group and leader is engaged, planning, preparing, providing holistic requirements, executing, and similar. In short, this role will ensure overall bank-wide success by being in the details.
  • Provide hands-on detailed project management throughout each phase of large, bank-wide initiatives, including: status updates, executive updates and debriefs, facilitate decision making and key discussions, resource and budget tracking, milestone and progress tracking and management, risk and dependency management, vendor and professional service partner management and accountability, and similar.
  • Relationship and partner management of vendors, third party partners, professional services vendors, and similar outsourced labor/services companies. You’ll be planning and facilitating onsite and offsite sessions, coordinating teams and timelines and decisions, managing and negotiating contracts, and related.
  • Success in this role will require high levels of influence, the ability to learn and assimilate information, to be highly curious, to garner input and needs across various stakeholders, and to drive and champion important decisions.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO DO IT

  • 5 years of proven expertise in banking and financial services projects.
  • 8 years or expertise and proven ability to manage complex, multi-dimensional initiatives and to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Experience with technology-based projects and programs, ability to engage in high-level technology conversations, and knowledge of basic software and technology concepts (e.g.: APIs, cloud, IAM).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to: translate between business and technical jargon/details, radiate information and data in readable and actionable ways, communicate updates clearly, facilitate trade-off and decision making conversations, and manage critical and difficult conversations in a professional manager.
  • Successful experience as both a people manager and as an organizational subject matter expert.

Physical and Other Requirements

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Stationary Work: The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to type, handle documents, and perform other office related duties. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Mobility: The employee in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Communicate: The employee is regularly required to talk or hear and will frequently communicate with others. Must be able to read, write and understand fluent English.
  • Work Model: The employee will work either a fully Onsite, Hybrid or Remote work model. All employees, regardless of location, may be required to travel to the Salt Lake City office for mandatory company meetings, events, or related occasions.
    • Utah-based employees: Hybrid work schedule available after initial training period in our Salt Lake City, Utah office – department and job requirements will determine eligibility.
    • Out of State employees: Full remote work schedule available.
