The VP, Default Management is responsible for a function or departments within the Default Loan Servicing Group. Areas of responsibility include Bankruptcy, Foreclosure, Loss Mitigation, REO and Property Preservation, Claims or Default Administration.  The VP, Default Management drives the core competencies of teamwork, integrity, initiative and customer service.  This role creates a positive and productive work environment through influence and communication and recognizes improvements and celebrates success.  The VP promotes and maintains social, ethical and organizational norms in conducting internal and external business activities, manages stressful deadlines without compromising values and service to clients and customers.  While maintaining high levels of motivation, this position manages multiple projects simultaneously through successful completion.  The VP encourages continual improvement that directly benefits our clients and customers, creates an environment that places client satisfaction as the highest priority and focuses on the long-term vision.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for a function or departments within the Default Loan Servicing Group
  • Responsible for internal and external compliance within all areas of Default Servicing
  • Establishes regular operational reporting that identifies gaps in attaining required service levels
  • Places controls and risk procedures in place to mitigate errors
  • Drives the development and analysis of data to identify trends and determine root cause servicing issues; utilizes data to facilitate process implement initiatives
  • Generates new ideas, recognizes the need for new or modified approaches; brings perspectives and approaches together to improve practices
  • Assures contractual client service standards are achieved or exceeded on a monthly basis
  • Manages all Default system and enhancements associated with Fidelity mortgage-servicing platform
  • Oversees policy and procedure development and enhancement within Default
  • Responds to client issues as needed
  • Develops and prepares annual budgets and monitors monthly expenses; initiates controls to maintain expenses within budget
  • Facilitates long-term planning, plan creation, and execution based on changing business and market environment
  • Establishes business goals in partnership with senior management for overall function and departments
  • Measures and monitors key functional performance measures by department, to increase income, and improve service levels
  • Works with managers to develop and monitor individual and departmental goals and provides effective feedback and guidance on a regular basis; holds managers accountable for meeting established goals
  • Develops and maintains staff planning forecast to recruit, develop and retain a cohesive Default support structure that motivates and builds a superior Default team
  • Administers staff performance and compensation programs
  • Leads effective performance management and professional talent development across all respective departments
  • Fosters a motivated and positive team environment that is recognized for their achievement of team goals
  • Ensures all activities are in accordance with company and regulatory risk and compliance requirements
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, include but not limited to compliance and operational risk. Demonstrate consideration for Cenlar’s reputation as well as our clients, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards

  • External – Agency (FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA), Clients, Customers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 12 years of experience in mortgage operations including previous experience managing multiple departments
  • Progressive experience and significant exposure to all default areas of loan servicing including Collections, Loss Mitigation, Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, REO, Claims and Default Compliance
  • Experience with the Fidelity mortgage servicing package
  • Previous responsibility for a servicing portfolio of greater than 250,000 loans
  • Experience with various servicing technologies including predictive dialers, imaging, ACD systems and Internet connectivity
  • Recognized leader within the mortgage servicing industry demonstrated by a leadership position or industry committee(s) or advisory board(s)
  • Solid reputation with regulatory agencies
  • Strong analytical/financial analysis skills
  • Demonstrated success implementing technological solutions to improve productivity, increase customer service levels, or expand capacity
  • Strong leadership skills to inspire outstanding performance through collaboration
  • Strong customer service skills to effectively execute the strategic goals and mission of Cenlar, while demonstrating Key Success Factors
  • Effective listening, communication, and presentation skills to present complex topics to senior management in a persuasive manner
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills to come up with a mutually acceptable solutions utilizing available resources with diverse perspectives
