Maintains a high level of commitment to program individuals. They also (1) provides a supportive relationship to clients in need of services that address mental health, substance use, and other collateral issues and (2) works with individuals to support a safe, positive, and comfortable shelter environment that minimizes the trauma of homelessness.
The DSH caseworker strives to meet overall goals and provide support to program that will assist in rehousing. Caseworks assist families to identify safe, affordable permanent housing that meets unique needs (e.g., size, lead compliance, geographic restrictions, and accessibility accommodations)
Caseworkers develop partnership with families monthly Rehousing Plans that identify goals and tasks that will facilitate housing access as rapidly as possible. Link individuals with publicly-funded rehousing benefits (e.g., HomeBASE, Relocation) and other forms of rental assistance in order to supplement earnings, savings, and other forms of income. They interacts with family following the Motivational Interviewing model in order to assess needs, provide information, discuss problems, set limits, and encourage the family’s growth and development
All positions require a background screening including a CORI and motor vehicle record check, as well as a reliable vehicle for work use.
