About CPD + CPDA

The Center for Popular Democracy and CPD Action (together, CPD/A) work to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. We currently work with more than 45 partner organizations in more than 38 states, Puerto Rico, and D.C., and build the strength and capacity of democratic organizations to envision and advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. We are a rapidly-expanding, changing organization that partners with organizations across the country to build political power and win tangible victories that improve the lives of low-wage workers, immigrants, and communities of color.

About the Position

We seek an energetic, rigorous, creative, and experienced Member Leadership Program Manager to join the Organizing Team in CPD/A’s Base-Building Department to support the development of a bold, transformative, member leader program in the CPD/A network.  This Program is a new project to build comprehensive support in the CPD/A network to develop members into leaders who share a deep analysis for the challenges we face, who have a bold shared vision for the world we are building, and who are actively driving organizing to achieve our collective goals.  Fundamentally, this role is focused on developing a pipeline, across the CPD/A network, to move grassroots members to volunteer member organizers, at scale.

Primary Responsibilities

The Member Leadership Program Manager’s primary responsibilities will include:

  • The development and implementation of common leadership trainings across the network;

  • Work to strengthen and align the leadership development programs at affiliates throughout the network;

  • Support for the development and management of a common tracking program to manage field work related to these efforts;

  • The development of a robust online resource library for member leaders, over time;

  • Work to build a network-wide community of member leaders through regular calls, digital community, and in-person gatherings;

  • Support for the affiliate and CPD/A staff who are focused on member leader development through regular calls, digital community, and in-person gatherings;

  • Close partnership with CPD/A’s Organizing Team and others within CPD/A to develop this program in alignment with CPD/A’s organizing, campaigning, political, and other work.

Job Requirements

  • Significant experience as an organizer;

  • Significant experience as a trainer and developer of trainings;

  • Demonstrated commitment to the engagement of grassroots members in the daily work of organizing and campaigning, in the context of community organizing;

  • A track record of effectiveness in campaigning, electoral engagement, and base-building;

  • Deep alignment with CPD/A’s theory of change and a strong commitment to build strong people’s institutions;

  • A demonstrated commitment to social and racial justice issues and a thorough understanding of challenges facing immigrant communities, communities of color, and low-income people;

  • The ability to cultivate and work deeply with diverse organizations and partners;

  • Excellent writing and communication skills;

  • Results-focused, team oriented, organized, and responsive;

  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly for site visits, trainings, and affiliate engagement, as well as occasional internal staff meetings.

Salary and Benefits

This is a union position. Salary will be determined according to a salary scale which takes into account years’ experience, location, job category, and other factors, but is expected to be $60,000-$75,000 and category 2. The CBA is available here.

We have a generous benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 15 vacation days for starting employees per year, 10 sick days per year, 13 paid holidays per year, and contributions to individuals’ 401K plans.
