Summary: The Clinical Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for supervising day-to-day administrative and technical operations, providing training to laboratory testing personnel, and maintaining records in accordance with regulatory agencies for all CPC clinical laboratories. Work also includes evaluation of employee performance and conduct. Initiates and implements corrective action programs to correct operational and employee deficiencies.
Education: Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in laboratory science, ASCP certification or equivalent required
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience required (preferably physician’s office laboratory).
Essential Job Functions
- Oversee laboratory testing personnel using in-person, telephone, and electronic methods.
- Monitor lab test results to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
- Ensure that technical problems are resolved, and that proper corrective actions and documentation steps are taken.
- Provide orientation and training to laboratory testing personnel.
- Fulfill assigned duties delegated by the Laboratory Directors and Technical Consultant.
- Monitor quality control values to determine proper performance of test systems.
- Assist and instruct in performance of instrument maintenance or quality assurance procedures according to manufacturer’s specified guidelines.
- Monitor for accurate and timely reporting of test results.
- Report positive infectious disease results to state agencies as required.
- Coordinate with laboratory personnel and reference laboratories to ensure that specimen and requisition requirements are met for send-out testing.
- Always maintains patient confidentiality; adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
- Partners with hiring manager in the selection, training, and evaluation of quality and production levels of laboratory employees.
- Address employee performance and/or conduct related matters.
- Assist in billing resolutions.
- Performs other duties as needed.

Equipment Operated: Basic office equipment such as computer, printer, copier, and fax machine. Also, standard laboratory equipment which includes centrifuges, point-of-care devices, and bench-top analyzers.
Work Environment: Position is primarily in a well-lit lab/office environment.
