Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which must include the following experience: Experience in developing and formulating new programs and providing operational leadership for the management and implementation of scientific and public health programs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Responsibilities:
As a Public Health Advisor you will:
- Serve as the Division of Bacterial Disease's Associate Director.
- As a principal member of the Division's leadership and management team, participate in and advise on program planning, development of Division objectives, coordination and development of evaluation plans, and implementation of policy guidance.
- Direct and coordinate all aspects of Division management and operations and apply sound managerial concepts to maximize Division contributions and outcomes.
- Oversee establishment of budget plans and budget execution for the Division and ensure adherence to established guidance, policies and procedures; advise the Division Director on optimum allocation and utilization of financial resources to accomplish Division operational, program and research objectives.
- Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term and long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work, when necessary.
