MajorDuties
As a Visual Information Specialist, you will: Plan and develop original visual treatments for Web, social media, printed publications, exhibits, or the visual content of oral presentations and other communication media when the subject matter is novel, unique, abstract in nature, and/or has a multiplicity of themes. Perform extensive research of the subject by discussing the subject matter with groups or individuals (program staff, other CDC staff, other agency staff, state officials, etc.), contributing to or familiar with the substance of the project, reading technical journals for potential treatment method ideas, reading medical journals, texts, or other information relative to the subject matter, etc. Identify and specify the best methods to communicate the desired information, when the project officer has no specified product mandate. Determine necessary project resources and limitations and the need to assure exemption from established agency/department graphics limitations.
Education
Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the education requirements. You must provide acceptable documentation that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. US Citizenship is required. Background Investigation is required. Knowledge of visual arts methods, techniques, and materials in translating novel, abstract and/or multi-theme subject matter into visual designs.

Requirements continued In accordance with Executive Order 12564 of September 14, 1986, The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is A Drug-Free Federal Workplace. The Federal government, as the largest employer in the Nation, can and should show the way towards achieving drug-free workplaces through programs designed to offer drug users a helping hand, and at the same time demonstrating to drug users and potential drug users that drugs will not be tolerated in the Federal workplace.
