The CENTERS team is innovative, entrepreneurial, trail-blazing, and ambitious for both CENTERS and our clients. Today, CENTERS provides management services for 14 clients.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for supporting users, tenants, lessees, and stakeholders through development and execution of preventative maintenance, capital projects and custodial/housekeeping. This position leads the day-to-day facility operation by working closely with the client, staff and vendors to provide critical coordination and information for the safe, clean, maintained, and efficient functioning of the facility.

 

This position will work on-site at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s Sonnentag Center, a major athletics, recreation, and events center, set to open summer 2024. The new Sonnentag Center will serve as a venue for university and community events, concerts, and home to Eau Claire Men’s and Women’s Athletics.

 

Essential Functions

  • Lead daily schedule of activities for the event center, fitness center, and fieldhouse
  • Manage revenue and expense budget for membership services and fitness center operations
  • Oversees the coordination of group fitness and personal training programs
  • Liaise with University's facility management units and direct the work of staff and/or 3rd party contractors on repairs/maintenance, building/equipment projects, annual inspections, certification renewals, etc.
  • Develop and maintain the risk management plan, preventative maintenance schedule, operations manual, and facility inspections
  • Supervise and monitor the membership service operation: oversee and facilitate sales, process monthly billing, monitor program registration and credit card processing
  • Develops, implements and maintains operating policies and procedures
  • Assist in the development and management of capital, reserve, and operational budgets
  • Coordinate periodic satisfaction surveys, evaluations, and assessments
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with employees, the client, vendors, sponsors, and community
  • Prepares and delivers required and requested reports and data to the client and CENTERS central office
  • With support from CENTERS, maintain compliance with and abreast of all workplace safety regulations

Staff Supervision

  • Hire, manage, train and supervise facility support staff that may include building maintenance staff, custodial/housekeeping staff, event staff, and 3rd party labor
  • Hire, train, and supervise all student and/or part time employees in the areas of membership services and fitness center operations 
  • Responsible for approving timecards and preparing necessary documents/reports in preparation for payroll

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 or more years of work experience 
  • 5 years experience in facility operations management or experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Demonstrated experience in arena management, engineering, conversion, and housekeeping
  • Demonstrated experience in arena event management
  • Leadership and supervisory experience

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Maintain flexible hours for sporting and other events that may occur on weekends and evenings

Physical Demands

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment
  • Must be able to traverse throughout the arena and campus. Regularly ascending/descending building levels and occasionally ladders or stools
  • Working in a sports and events environment at least 40% of the day
  • Must be able to lift, move and set up items weighing as much as 50 lbs. 
  • Must be able to discuss, converse with, and exchange accurate information with arena patrons, staff, stakeholders, etc.
