Overview
The Neurodiagnostic Technician is a multi-skilled health professional who performs neurodiagnostic testing procedures in the inpatient outpatient and intra-operative settings.
Responsibilities
Performs basic routine EEG studies, twenty-four-hour inpatient video EEG studies and outpatient EEG studies. Explains testing procedure to patient and family.Runs study using appropriate test strategy, electrode montage parameters, appropriate documentation on study, observation of the patient, troubleshooting equipment and physiological artifacts, distinguishing normal from abnormal.
Performs basic calibrations, evaluations and adjustments to the EEG equipment with assistance.
Reviews test reports and patient records for accuracy and completeness. Prepares digital files for archiving.
Demonstrates basic understanding of interpretations of EEGs and utilizes monitoring skills to detect abnormalities in patient condition. Notifies interpreting physician immediately in the event of abnormal findings.
Communicates with physicians and team members concerning patients.
Schedules testing, as required.
May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time.
Qualifications
Education preferred : High School Diploma or GED. //
