Product Designer - Commerce

Summary:

The NBC News Digital group is seeking a Product Designer grounded in Human - Centered design thinking paired with strong visual and interaction design skills for our commerce initiative spanning both web and mobile apps.
You will apply and evolve our design system toward crafting innovative, effective and tasteful solutions that deliver a clear value proposition and reduce friction for our users across commerce experiences on News and TODAY.
You will also partner with editorial and our publishing tools design team to help design efficient interfaces for our editorial team.
Your impact is significant as you will touch projects from concept to highly refined visual and interactive design across web and mobile experiences. 

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with the Commerce Product Manager on understanding and shaping thegoals, strategy and roadmap for our commerce products

• Collaborate with the research team on project discovery, concept exploration and user testing

• Move adesign through initial wireframe explorations to interactive prototypes to delivery of detailed final renderings with documentation for development

• Participatein thorough critique sessions with product and design leads and peers andpresent to stakeholders

• Collaborateclosely with the engineering teams, communicating with clarity, understandingand bringing a flexibility within their agile process

Minimum Qualifications: 

• A great aesthetic sensibility -Empathy and a solid understandingof design thinking and design sprint process

• Meticulous attention to detail while not losing sight of the larger mission

• A passion for crafting innovative, usable and delightful products

• Experience with design systems

• Experience and understanding of affiliate commerce experiences and the shopping user funnel

• A portfolio of your work

• 3 years experience in Product design, preferably in thecontent publishing space

• BA/BFA with a design focus

• Fluency with design and prototyping tools such as Figmaand Protopie

• Solid understanding of HTML, CSS and Java script

• Successful experiences shipping products
