Web Development Manager
Type of Role: On-Site; Full-Time
Great Plains Manufacturing has a great opportunity for an experienced Web Development Manager to be an integral part of our technology team. The right candidate will have strong technical skills and be a terrific team player. This position reports to the Director of IT and works in our Corporate Office in Salina, KS.
Great Plains Manufacturing (GPM) has a 47-year history of steady growth. Today, as part of the Kubota family of companies, our growth rate is tremendous. GPM is a manufacturer of agricultural planting and seeding equipment, implements for compact tractors, attachments for skid steers and a manufacturer of Kubota-branded construction power equipment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, service, engineering, manufacturing, and product development, to build and implement new web features and functionalities.
- Support the integration of legacy and emerging enterprise systems via the development of RESTful APIs and middleware.
- Support ongoing maintenance and modernization efforts for an extensive, mission-critical, legacy code base.
- Manage and mentor a team of web developers to ensure the successful completion of projects within deadlines and budget.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and roadblocks, and provide creative solutions to ensure project success.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies, frameworks, and methodologies to improve web development processes and efficiencies. Provide short term and long-term strategic direction.
- Ensure compliance with web development standards, including accessibility, SEO, privacy, and security best practices.
- Monitor and report on web development performance metrics, and use data to inform and optimize development strategies.
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Technical Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field, and/or 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record of leading successful web development projects.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in mentoring and developing team members.
- Extensive knowledge of web development frameworks and languages, including HTML, SCSS/CSS, PHP, and JavaScript.
- Knowledge of Drupal, React, Express, Python, Slim, and shell scripting preferred.
- Functional knowledge of relational databases required, and fluency with MySQL, SOQL, and DB2 preferred.
- Experience building and consuming RESTful web services required.
- Experience managing disciplined source control and build/deploy processes required.
- Experience supporting cloud-native architectures and DevOps, particularly on AWS EKS, preferred.
