What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobile Phlebotomist position at CENTRAL CITY?
LOCATION: Residential Care Department / Monterey Park / Mobile LA Area
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for serving patients by identifying the best method for retrieving specimens, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and performing screening procedures.
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Department Manager
JOB DUTIES: Responsible for the timely collection of patient laboratory specimens consistent with federal and state regulations, including of the following:
- Establishes daily schedule to complete laboratory specimen collection for patients residing in various residential locations.
- Coordinate’s collection routes to ensure that specimen collection is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Report all critical laboratory results in a timely manner.
- Validates the proper ICD-10 codes for every patient’s laboratory order, to decrease organization expense.
- Ensure the maintenance of quality patient care.
- Prepare specimens for shipping including centrifuging specimens.
- Complete patient blood draws.
- Maintain appropriate inventory for all laboratory procedures.
- Maintain an organized and sanitary work environment.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and appropriate boundaries with patients.
- Meet attendance standards and be present and ready for work at the beginning of established work schedule.
- Effectively document and transmit all orders using our EMR E Clinical Works.
- Report any work-related injury or illness, or workplace hazards or security issues immediately to supervisor.
- Responsible for ensuring CLIA Waiver requirements are maintained and communicated to team member responsible for maintaining treatment center licensure.
- Consistently demonstrate and uphold CCCHC’s principle of providing quality health and human services to the medically underserved and low-income populations in a culturally sensitive manner.
- All other duties, as assigned.

- Knowledge of OSHA requirements and practices.
- Required to know, follow, and enforce safe work practices, and be aware of company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Must possess a dependable automobile with insurance and current CA Driver License.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Must be a Certified Licensed Phlebotomist
Working Conditions
Normal mobile environment with:
- Ability to drive to multiple mobile locations daily.
- Occasional walking, reaching with hands and arms, stooping and kneeling, including the ability to help patients ambulate.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks while also being tactful, diplomatic, and empathetic.
- Ability to organize and schedule work effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with patients, customers, managers and other levels of personnel, in person and on the telephone.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain composure under conditions of urgency and/or time constraint.
