GPS Grade Checker

We are seeking an experienced and quality minded GPS Grade Checker who will be responsible for setting grade stakes to guide earth moving equipment operations in cut & fill, sloping, excavation and back-filling work at residential, commercial and heavy civil site. Experience using measuring instruments and hand tools are necessary. Must also have training in marking and reading survey stakes to determine grade specifications. This is a position that requires the ability to observe, direct and control equipment excavating activities to conform to stake references and communicate with equipment operators, supervision and management.

Essential Functions:

The GPS Grade Checker will be responsible for horizontal and vertical control from the initial excavation using survey instruments (i.e. rod and eye level, auto level, builder's level, laser level and GPS Survey Instruments) and setting grade stakes until completion of the work. The GPS Grade Checker must have the ability to assist in observing if the excavation equipment is in good running condition, and that the operators are working within specified production. Finally, this position requires as-builting construction with the GPS Survey Instrument and compiling a redline set of drawings as a product deliverable satisfactory to the client.

Requirements:

• Experience in the following: Rollers, excavators, backhoes, Dozers, Loaders, Graders/Blade
• 10 hours Daily, 6 days a week.
• Experience with Trimble GPS and Trimble Total Station is strongly preferred.
• Drug testing required
• Must have your own transportation
• Some travel is required
• OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred
• CPR/First Aid Certification preferred
• Physical Requirements
• Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
• Ability to carry survey instruments and equipment in remote, rural and urban surroundings
• Ability to lift 50lbs
• Working in adverse weather required
