Middle School Volleyball Head Coach
Central Middle
Reports To: Athletic Director and Principal
Salary: As described in the supplemental contract of the Master Agreement between the Board of Education, Forest Hills Public Schools, and Forest Hills NEA-MEA District Association.
Job Summary: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills with parents and students required
- Volleyball and/or coaching experience preferred
- First aid and CPR knowledge preferred
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and communicate clear and specific goals for the team and individual players
- Develop the skills of players specific to volleyball
- Establish a team that demonstrates good sportsmanship
- Maintain open and honest communication with students, parents, other coaches, and Athletic Director
- Create an environment in which athletes can gain self-esteem and develop a positive self-image
- Demonstrate understanding of leadership best practices specific to the sport and age group
- Support student academic expectations, responsibilities, and achievements
- Develop the knowledge and understanding of Forest Hills Public Schools policies and procedures as it applies to athletics
- Promote and enforce the student-athlete code of conduct
- Connect athletic experiences with life experiences
- Provide an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration among coaches and players
- Model good sportsmanship always
- Create and maintain a safe and healthy environment for student athletes
- Ability to commit to a flexible time commitment
- Consistent and reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work may be performed indoors and/or outdoors. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.
Mental Functions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
Evaluation:
Annually by either athletic director and/or principal
Terms of Employment:
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District. Seasonal position.
