The Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Association is a not for profit agency that educates, supports, & advocates for foster, adoptive, & kinship children, youth, & families in central Missouri by offering services & partnering with community & governmental agencies to develop healthy & self-sufficient individuals & families.

Founded in 2007 by a former foster youth, foster parents, and adoptive parents, the CMFCAA is a community service organization that provides for the needs of foster, adoptive, kinship, and guardianship youth and families. What began as a small support group has grown into a multifaceted organization that provides direct support, education, services and advocacy to foster and adoptive families in a 24-county central Missouri region.

Currently, we are assisting over 640 foster families, over 1400 foster children, over 400 adopted children in our service area. Our goal is to be a support to the families, children and youth in this area, and we work tirelessly to provide much needed services to them.

POSITION SUMMARY

 As a Family Development Trainer/Assessor, you will provide training to individuals who are interested in becoming foster/adoptive/relative/kinship/respite providers and completing home assessments for licensing. Our Family Development Trainers/Assessors provide fun, creative, and educational trainings while assisting families through the pre-service licensure process. You will work one-on-one with families while building lasting relationships to make a substantial impact for the communities and children we serve. The candidate should be comfortable with conducting in-home consultations and follow up visits with applicants/resource providers as well as writing thorough home assessments. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Work with licensing agencies to complete accurate Home Assessments and appropriate paperwork within required time frame 

·       Write lengthy assessments using proper formatting, grammar, spelling, and sentence structure 

·       Conduct thorough background screenings on potential resource providers 

·       Maintain required documentation and confidential materials pertaining to prospective resource providers   

·       Travel, training, and writing home assessments within the 24 counties CMFCAA serves 

·       Collaborate and provide non-biased, quality services to families while focusing on support through home visits and Home Assessment process to obtain licensure 

·       Keep professional relationships and ensure precautions are taken to provide security and confidentiality to CMFCAA families 

·       Facilitate state required educational trainings for families seeking licensure to foster/adopt or provide kinship care 

·       Facilitate state required educational trainings for foster/adoptive/kinship parents to acquire continued education 

·       Ability to create new and engaging activities utilized for trainings 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, English, Journalism, Communications or related field 

·       Excellent oral and written communication skills 

·       Case management, 1 year (preferred) 

·       Knowledge of foster care system (preferred) 

·       Strong public speaking experience 

·       Reliable transportation 

·       Ability to obtain required training certificates 

·       Strong organizational and documentation skills 

·       Punctuality and flexibility in a fast-paced environment 

·       Ability to promote teamwork 

·       Meeting goals for the program 

·       Maintain and keep all training equipment and materials organized and in good repair 

License/Certificate: 

·       Driver’s license- REQUIRED 

·       STARS Train the Trainer (Preferred)
