Job Title: Special Programs Coordinator
Job Goal: Provide leadership support for Special Programs in District.
Supervises: Program Staff Assigned
Qualifications:
Valid Arizona Principal certificate (preferred)
Master’s degree in administration or SPED
School based leadership experience
Valid Arizona teaching certificate
ASA Qualified Evaluator training (preferred__or completed within first year)
Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience
Valid fingerprint clearance card
Effective presentation & problem solving skills
Ability to work during non-scheduled teaching hours.
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Responsibilities & Duties:
Communicate with teachers, students and parents regarding student progress and needs.
Serve as District Representative in meetings/IEP’s for self-contained special programs and other IEP and MET meetings as assigned.
Monitor and observe special programs classrooms at least twice weekly for IEP compliance and quality of instruction/program.
Evaluation of Special Programs staff.
Plan and program with self-contained teachers and staff for effective self-contained special programs.
Coaching teachers in effective instructional strategies.
Provide support for teachers in the use of district adopted curriculum.
Provide support and professional development for positive behavior intervention systems.
Assist with functional behavior assessments and developing and implementing behavior support plans
Work with teachers and other staff members to understand and manage students with challenging behaviors.
Keep Executive Director of Special Programs appraised of happenings in special programs.
Act as District representative in transition meetings for students being considered for self-contained placement and out of district placements.
Plan and implement District wide SPED professional development.
Attend monthly building SPED meetings.
Support accountability for health and safety of students.
Support observance of all Board policies and regulations by staff and students.
Work productively as a team member with the Administrative Team, the teaching staff, classified staff, site-based teams, and community groups.
Attend meetings, district activities, and trainings as assigned.
Maintain open communication with students, parents, community and staff.
Continue personal and professional development through involvement in professional organizations and by attending and presenting at professional conferences, conducting colleague visits, facilitating school visitation, writing for publication, and engaging in professional reading.
Compile program reports for the administrative team and Governing Board as needed.
Produce high quality communiques.
Represent the district in a professional manner and in the best interest of the district.
Perform additional duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
Evaluation: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy.
