POSITION SUMMARY:
The Wound Care Supervisor works closely with the Director of the department to provide overall support of and acts as a resource to the Wound Care staff. The Wound Care Supervisor: identifies education needs of individual staff members and/or the unit as a whole and plans and implements educational offerings; facilitates implementation of evidence based practices in the department; conducts performance reviews and collaborates with the Nursing Director to improve the overall performance of the department; oversees the orientation and precepteeships of new employees; oversees annual skills/competency testing and assures orientation of nursing staff to new equipment and procedures; conducts staff meetings; monitors performance of the department utilizing appropriate data; identifies opportunities for improvement and facilitates improvements utilizing PDSA; supports and facilitates creation of a culture of safety in the department; facilitates high levels of patient satisfaction with Wound Care services and models behaviors for other staff; reviews and revises Wound Care policies and procedures; participates in budget development; provides direct patient care and utilizes scheduled administrative time to accomplish leadership responsibilities.
