Job Title: Nutrition Educator
Location: Central Pennsylvania Food Bank – Williamsport, PA
Reporting Relationship: Agency Services Manager
Position Summary: This is a grant-funded position for one (1) year with the possibility of an annual renewal. The Nutrition Educator’s primary role is to support implementation of the Pennsylvania Healthy Pantry Initiative (PA HPI) within the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank (CPFB) service area.
Job Accountabilities:
· Communicate regularly with PA HPI registered dietitian regarding program implementation and healthy pantry activities.
· Assist in recruiting food pantries for participation in PA HPI.
· Carry out healthy pantry assessments to identify potential intervention strategies.
· Seek opportunities to collaborate with various departments within the CPFB on increasing healthy inventory as well as development of nutrition policy.
· Implement identified environmental changes: Creating attractive displays, signage, etc.
· Conduct cooking demonstrations.
· Provide recipes and tastings of healthy foods available at pantry.
· Present nutrition education classes.
· Conduct trainings for food pantry staff/volunteers.
· Collaborate with food pantries in collecting data on food pantry inventory and distribution.
· Assist the Agency Services Department with nutrition education specific activities.
· Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
· Must be willing to travel most frequently within the CPFB territory, less frequently for trainings or meetings with all PA HPI partners often centrally located near Harrisburg, PA.
Other Duties:
· In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency, CPFB is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties.

Education and Experience:
Education:
· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, health or public health, health coach or related field.
· Additional years of experience combined with certification would be considered in lieu of having an Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
Experience:
· Minimum one (1) year experience working in a non-profit or social service/community environment.

· Ability to attend departmental and all-staff meetings as directed, staying informed of ongoing changes in department and overall organization.
· Knowledge of the organization’s computer software and systems, including Microsoft Office
Suite, department-specific software systems, telecommunications, and internet applications.
· Ability to operate standard office equipment (machines, tools, and devices) used in performing only the essential function include computer and related equipment, typewriter, calculator, photocopier, fax machine, and telephone.
Physical Requirements or Licenses:
· Ability to travel that may include consecutive overnight stays, and traveling by car, bus, and airplane.
· Must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.
· Conditions may include working closely with others, working alone, and working protracted or irregular and flexible hours.
· Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 35 pounds.
· The work environment is typically quiet.
