Job Summary
We are looking for a driven Accounts Payable Clerk. Under the supervision of our Financial Controller, the AP Clerk can expect to participate in the preparation and posting of journal entries to the general ledger, analyze actual financial data, learn more about Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, and assist with other accounting activities. In this role, you will gain experience and learn essential industry skills by assisting our team with accounts payable, bank reconciliation, and other projects. You should be a motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking.
This role is open to entry level accountants and recently graduated students who are seeking to gain real world experience in accounting. Individuals with Accounts Payable experience are encouraged to apply.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform full A/P cycle
- Printing A/P checks
- Review and maintain A/P aging
- Update and maintain vendor accounts in ERP software
- 3-way matching of invoices
- Review purchase orders for pricing discrepancies
- Internal communications regarding PO statuses
- Vendor communications regarding disputes or payment inquiries
- Vendor statement reconciliations
- Month end closing tasks
- Handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity
- Learning how to work as part of the accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the company and operations.
- Take on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operations
- Provide accounting administrative support as needed
Requirements and Qualifications
- Active enrollment in a relevant post-secondary program
- Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
- Interpersonal skills, including strong written and verbal communication
- The ability to be discreet when handling sensitive financial information
- A willingness to learn; motivation and desire to take on new challenges
- Detail-oriented
- Analytical skills
- Basic understanding of GAAP and financial principles
- Ability to work independently or with a team
- Solid communication skills
