What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Guard position at Central Valley Indian Health, Inc.?
Central Valley Indian Health is seeking a Security Guard to provide protective services to the staff, patients and visitors of CVIH. This position is responsible to investigate situations and conditions, which may differ from the normal. Performs day-to day building maintenance, including restocking supplies, maintaining common areas, and performing minor repairs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
SECURITY:
- Perform protective services by guarding and escorting staff, patients and visitors, not excluding CVIH property and equipment.
- Patrol the premises to check locks, alarms, gates, and/or other barriers in and around the clinic property.
- Relay messages, maintain logs, and assist in emergency situations.
- Follow “Code P” procedures (Call Police) when situations warrant.
- Perform the essential functions of the position without risk to self or others.
- Ensure a safe environment in the waiting room; make sure doorways and walk-ways are unobstructed, and lock the door at the end of the day.
- Greet visitors and screen for symptoms upon arrival, as needed.
MAINTENANCE:
- Complete minor repairs and building improvements. Notify supervisor if outside vendor or service is needed.
- Clean all common room areas, including the lobby, breakroom, boardroom, and restrooms.
- Responsible for receiving and inventorying materials, supplies, and equipment as items are delivered or picked up,
- Respond to any spills or cleaning crises and ensure proper safety hazard signs are used when needed.
- Remove litter and rubbish inside and outside of the building.
- Help maintain and replenish supplies required for employees and patients.
- Safely operate vehicle to pick-up or drop-off supplies and materials.
- Communicate in a friendly and professional manner to others. Provide excellent service/support to all patients, employees, and outside contacts.
- Any other duties assigned to the employee by his or her direct supervisor or CVIH Administration.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Guard Card preferred.
- Knowledge and application of physical security procedures and policies.
- Must be able to lift and carry supplies/materials weighing 50 lbs, and perform moderate to arduous physical exertion and/or duties of a hazardous nature.
- A valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record with the ability to be insured under CVIH’s automobile insurance.
- Awareness and keen appreciation of Indian traditions, customs and socioeconomic needs, or willingness to learn; an ability at times to meet and deal effectively with Indian health organizations consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures. Tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.

Summary:
This is a full-time position Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
