Job Description

Centralia College is creating a pool of qualified applicants to teach art appreciation and art history courses in person to freshmen and sophomores on a part-time basis at the college's Morton, WA, campus. The college's need for part-time instructors varies from quarter to quarter; however, this assignment is to teach ART& 100: Art Appreciation for Fall 2024 Quarter (classes start Sept. 23, 2024).

This is an on-campus assignment at the Centralia College East center in Morton (eastern Lewis County). You must be available to teach at the Morton campus one to two days a week. This is not an online assignment.

Additional in-person teaching opportunities may arise at the college's main campus in Centralia; the Chehalis Tribal Center in Oakville, WA; correctional and juvenile detention facilities in the area; or online.

Applicants must reside in Washington State.

Duties and Responsibilities

Art Appreciation instructors are responsible for teaching ART& 100: Art Appreciation. Instructors may be asked to teach art history courses, including ART 203: History of American Art.

Qualifications

  • Master's or higher degree in fine arts, art history, visual art, visual culture, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience in visual art or culture, community college level preferred.
  • Skill in increasing inclusivity and closing opportunity gaps for historically marginalized students.
  • Ability to adapt teaching to various student learning styles.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively and respectfully working with students, staff, and colleagues of various cultural, ethnic, racial, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications, college learning management systems, and other appropriate instructional technologies.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Centralia College faculty are represented by the Centralia College Federation of Teachers, Local No. 4469, AFT/AAFL-CIO.

COMPENSATION:

Current lecture/lab rates ($886.41 - $1,358.22 per credit)
