Black Bear Fiber is seeking a ground hand to be part of our Outside Plant team. This position will be responsible for working with fiber optic and copper cable systems in both new and existing applications.

Responsibilities

· Performs various outside construction labor including but not limited to, preparing, and assembling various line apparatus, utilizing equipment to install ground rods and anchors, assisting in hoisting aerial poles, and operating various types of construction equipment

· Assist Foreman and Lineman as needed

· Basic print and map readingabilities

· Ability to operate hydraulic aerial lifts and ladders mounted to trucks as well as other various pieces of equipment as needed

· Safely operate mechanical equipment such as bucket trucks, assist wheel, and anchor placement machine

· Keeps work areas clean and organized; always ensure job site cleanliness

· Maintains proper inventory on vehicle based on work assignments daily

· JSA’s and pre-trip inspections, ability to recognize changing conditions as it relates to JSA

· Help train new ground hand hires if needed.

Requirements

· 0-2 year of experience

· Safely use hand tools and equipment such as wrenches, drills, ladders, lashers, chain saw, chain hoist, climbing hooks etc.

· Ensures job site safety and sets up safe perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers; flagging traffic when required.

· Ability to work in confined spaces.

· Willingness to work outdoors during extreme heat/cold

· Reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

· Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation with acceptable driving record.

· CDL A or B driver’s license

· OSHA 10

· Vehicle Mounted Aerial Lift Training

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
