Job Description: Bilingual Health Educator
Full-Time: 40 hours/week, with benefits after 90 days
Salary: $19/hr.
Centro Hispano is recruiting a full-time bilingual health educator in our Health Promotion Department. Working under the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation education program and the COVID Community Partnership program as a Community Health Worker.
Position activities:
- Helping Hispanic and Latino individuals develop capacity and access to resources, including health insurance, food, housing, quality care, and health information
- Help people understand COVID, its risks, and complications
- Delivering health information using culturally appropriate terms and concepts
- Ensure compliance with both grants, and compile monthly reports
- Participate in the Utah County Drug Prevention Coalition
- Create tobacco prevention youth focused lesson plans to prepare youth for the Legislative Session
- Create social media posts and other types of content to promote programming
- Assist the Health Promotion Department Coordinator with other department and nonprofit needs
Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
- 1-2 years experience working with youth
- 6-12 months of experience in community/public health.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with volunteers, community partners, and community members
- Comfortable with contacting and following up with interested participants over the phone
- Outstanding oral and written skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to consistently follow through and meet deadlines
- Willing to adapt to changing circumstances and make both personal and program improvements where necessary
- Flexible schedule; may require evening and weekend hours
- Have reliable transportation
