VP of Accounting (Cannabis Industry)

Job Description:

The VP of Accounting will be responsible to lead the accounting & finance function of one of the fastest-growing cannabis companies in the industry that is on the cusp of achieving a multibillion-dollar company valuation. The VP must have CPG & manufacturing GAAP accounting experience and will work in tandem with the Company Controller to oversee the corporate management that includes Ledgers, AP, AR, Cost Accounting, Tax & Audit, Payroll, FP&A, and ERP systems. The primary duties shall involve aligning processes, controls, and team capacity to ensure the completeness & accuracy of accounting reporting of a consolidated set of financial statements that cover multiple wholly owned subsidiaries. The candidate must thrive in a high-performance, exponential growth environment, be a hands-on servant leader and take pride in being a polished accounting professional.

Location: Desert Hot Springs, CA

Pay: $200,000-$250,000

• Relocation stipend
• Up to 10% performance bonus

Duties:

• Establishing and building cooperative working relationships with a cross-functional team of highly competent accounting directors, managers and staff members
• Oversee the management of cash flow planning processes and ensure funds availability comply with loan covenants and company objectives.
• Oversee the execution & design of a comprehensive financial model & budgeting to evaluate business performance and make recommendations to improve efficiency
• Establishing, communicating and constantly refining financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems
• Hands-on leader with the FP&A Team and cross departments for business planning, financial forecasting, budgets, and management reporting activities
• Be responsible for the review & presentation of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and performance metrics.
• Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems with the goal of maximum utility to other executive team and departmental leaders
• Assessing and optimizing financial processes and controls
• Oversee preparation and/or independently prepare various schedules, including standalone entity financial statements, in support of any audit.
• Perform other duties or projects as assigned.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in accounting or related Degree is Mandatory
• CPA Preferred
• Minimum 5 years’ prior experience in the VP of Accounting role (Mandatory)
• 15 years of experience leading in Accounting & Finance field including managerial accounting, consolidated financial statement presentation & reporting, tax & auditing management, financial modeling including budgeting & forecasting, cashflow management, debt & equity capital management, multi-location operations, and policy development.
• Possess strong financial acumen, strong leadership demeanor & presence, analytical, control based & lean mindset, autonomous, strong critical thinker & problem solver, excellent written & oral communication skills, high performance & energy, results oriented, servant leadership style, high capacity for change management & thrives in exponential growth environment
• CPG and Manufacturing Industry experience is Mandatory
• Tobacco, Alcohol or Cannabis Experience welcomed
• Full understanding and application of GAAP
• Microsoft Dynamics ERP system Preferred of robust ERP system
• CRM Experience Required
• $1B in Company Revenue Experience Required
• Experience overseeing a centralized corporate accounting function and department of 30 Members mandatory
• Experience running multi-state and multi-national companies with 10 territory operations.

Pay: $200,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
