Space Flight Operations Specialist

Cepeda Systems and Software Analysis, Inc., a rapidly growing small company, is hiring a Space Flight Operations Specialist. The chosen candidate will be responsible for the integration and application of software for civil space systems, including real-time mission operations development and support.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Develop Flight Software (FSW) operational data products such as I-Loads and Parametric Control File selector files to support NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS). Manages associated documentation controlling these products development.
• Coordinate and integrate the development and review of FSW Operational Notes across SLS departments, which provide required response information for SLS flight software users that see what appears to be anomalous behavior in software or telemetry.
• Lead development of operational concepts and operational procedure development for the SLS-PCF position, as well as internal simulation and training development for FSW teams.
• Provide real-time operational mission support to the SLS program.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• US Citizenship required
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science with 10 years of experience or 5 years’ experience MS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or related technical field.
• Comprehensive experience performing analysis, design and test.
• Experience developing and integrating products across multiple teams.
• Exemplify critical thinking and the ability to perform under stress in time-critical scenarios.
• Knowledge of Government standards and requirements.
• Knowledge of agile software development processes and documentation.
• Strong understanding of requirement verification/validation terms and practices.
• Excellent communication to provide thorough reasoning and explanations for comments against deliverables under review and be able to support decisions when explaining to customers and superiors.

Preferred Knowledge and Experience:

• Knowledgeable experience with Atlassian-Jira
• Previous mission operations support
• MS Office products
• Experience on NASA related projects
• Working knowledge of NASA MSFC requirements management processes which includes government requirements and standards including, but not limited to NASA Software Engineering Requirements, NPR 7150.2 and NASA Systems Engineering Processes and Requirements, NASA NPR 7123.1
• Ability to adapt quickly to obstacles and changing demands
• Understanding of verification/validation terms and practices
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle activities
