The Maintenance Engineering Manager will be responsible for the maintenance and care of automation systems to foster a manufacturing excellence culture for our high-volume Automated Filling and Packaging operations in Lodi, California.
This position will lead our Maintenance Engineering Dept. and will be based in Lodi, CA. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions. You will work with a cross-functional team to support our rapidly expanding manufacturing facility's high-volume automated filling and packaging operations in Lodi, CA.
In this role, you will have the opportunity:
- Own and improve reliability KPIs for the automated filling and packaging machines - Safety, Quality, Availability, Performance, and Maintenance cost.
- Engage cross-functionally to implement change and lead rapid tool recovery, problem-solving process, and breakdown analysis (autopsy) of failed equipment, station, or component.
- Partner with Automation Engineers, SMEs, and OEMs to establish a proactive maintenance strategy for automation equipment.
- Champion proactive maintenance culture to reduce the occurrence and duration of unplanned intervention through the execution of autonomous maintenance, time/cycle-based maintenance, predictive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and timely defect resolution.
- Work with the Maintenance Planners and Partroom team to ensure the right part, inventory, cost, quality, and delivery time for critical spares.
- Establish and align the Maintenance Engineering department's annual goals and 30-60-90 days priorities with the Lodi engineering function and site goals.
- Manages the maintenance team hiring process, performance management, schedule management, retention, technology-centric training, and career progression.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor's degree with 9 years of related work experience OR Master's degree with 7 years of related work experience.
- Possess a professional certification in the field of maintenance management - Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP), Certified Reliability Leader (CRL), Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM), Certified Professional Maintenance Manager (CPMM), or any equivalent professional certification.
- Experience in maintenance or technical field, supervisory, good communication skills, negotiation skills, structured problem-solving skills, team management, resource management, good manufacturing practices, and excellent computer knowledge.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience:
- MBA and Bachelor's in an Engineering discipline.
- Experience implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Toyota Production Systems (TPS) in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Intermediate knowledge of automation systems - mechanical systems (pneumatics, drives, and transmission, bearing, and lubrication) and electrical systems (Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, Epson robotics, vision systems, servo systems, VFDs, and other field devices).
- Ability to read and interpret technical standards - equipment drawings, schematic diagrams, P&IDs, technical/user manual, and circuit diagrams to assist and coach during problem-solving.

The salary range for this role is $117k-$150k annually. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
