A top international law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to work closely with their Litigation, Arbitration and Finance practice groups.
Key Responsibilities:
There is a lot of variety within the role, but principle responsibilities will include the following:
• Assisting attorneys in all phases of litigation and arbitration including motion practice, discovery, appeals, trial, hearings and post-trial and hearings.
• Must be well versed in appellate, federal and state court procedure and filing requirements, to include experience with e-filing on PACER, NYSCEF and other state courts. Knowledge of ICC, ICSID, and American Arbitration Association filings are a plus.
• Familiarity with pulling dockets and documents from PACER, NYSCEF and other Court websites.
• Maintain litigation calendar for litigation and arbitration practices.
• Organize and maintain electronic versions of pleadings and correspondence files on firm’s document management program.
• Provide internet research including pulling cases from Lexis and Westlaw, as needed, along with conducting research and analysing various law sources.
• Assist with the general aspects of document productions (redacting, Bates stamping and indexing documents).
• Assist attorneys with preparation of motions such as preparing Affirmations, Declarations and exhibits for court filings.
• Cite Check, Blue Book, and proofread pleadings, briefs and other litigation and arbitration documents as required.
• Prepare and review Table of Authorities in briefs.
• Drafting of routine court documents such as Notices of Appearances, Pro Hac Vice Motions, Notices of Motions, Subpoenas, Stipulations and other general court documents.
• Assist with preparing production and witness documents for depositions such as gathering and managing materials relevant to the deponent and prepare exhibits.
• Organize and prepare trial witness files and trial notebooks. Create and maintain hearing exhibits and assist with preparation of pre and post-trial briefs.
• Create and maintain trial exhibits and deposition designation databases; assist with preparation of pre- and post-trial briefs.
• Conduct due diligence, litigation and bankruptcy searches.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned and assist attorneys when needed.
Skills / Experience:
- At least 7- 10 years of experience as a paralegal.
- BS/BA from an accredited college or university is strongly preferred and paralegal certificate preferred.
- Superior working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of the CPLR and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Flexibility for overtime.
- Experience handling multiple attorneys with full caseloads.
- Exercise good judgment and follow through on assigned tasks.
- Familiarity with Westlaw, Lexis and litigation support programs.
- Familiarity with IManage, Worksite, Filesite or Desksite or a comparable document management program.
- Familiarity with Relativity.
- Familiarity with Drafting Assistant.
- Familiarity with billing software.
