Structural Response M&S Analyst

CFD Research is seeking to hire a structural response modeling and simulation analyst to support multiple projects. This individual will conduct thermo-structural response analysis of composite materials under a variety of conditions and environments relevant to high-speed flight systems using tools such as Abaqus. The individual will work with a team of engineers, scientists, and software developers to research, develop, and demonstrate novel approaches to advance the state-of-the-practice in structural response modeling of carbon-based composites.

Basic Qualifications:

• Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical engineering or similar discipline, experience with Abaqus, Python, experience with structural analysis for both metallic materials and composites.
• Experience with common Aerospace industry materials and practices for designing flight vehicles
• General knowledge of Python, C/C , or Fortran
• Experience presenting to customers

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with composite materials micro-mechanics
• Experience with structural dynamic and thermal analysis, transient loading, nonlinear implicit and explicit analysis
• Constitutive material modeling experience
• Experience with CFD codes, multi-physics analysis
• Experience with additional DoD/Industry standard FEM tools

Location: This role is based at CFD Research Corporate headquarters, in the Huntsville, AL area, and is 100% onsite.
