Job Description: QUES Utility Inspector
Daily inspections of utility poles consist of constantly moving from pole to pole through and across various terrains. This includes rural and metro areas throughout the state of Missouri and Illinois. Inspectors are expected to collect data on a handheld device provided by the customer to capture various problems associated with utility poles and upload data daily. They are expected to communicate with the local residents to explain the function of the task and gain access to the poles to be inspected.
Expectations:
Inspectors are required to work outside in all types of weather conditions that include extreme heat in the summer and cold weather in the winter as long as conditions are not hazardous to the employee. Candidates must have the ability to kneel, crouch, and bend at the base of a utility pole during inspections. Candidates will be walking some long distances and are recommended to be able to walk 5-10 miles per day. Some positions will require the use of tools that weigh up to 30lbs. Driving is a requirement and candidates will be required to have a valid driver's license and may be asked to procure a class "E' Chauffeurs license to operate a company vehicle. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to operate a vehicle in a safe manner and be capable of reading and using maps. Candidates may be required to drive long or short distances in various conditions on a daily basis. Travel will be required for 3 nights per week for local candidates.
