Summary
Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of the laboratory. Assist employees with daily operations. Responsible for testing all reprocessed materials as materials come off the production line. Manages and maintains all Certificates of Analysis. Makes Certificates of Analysis available to customers on the online database appropriately and timely. Adhere to Quality Management System.
Essential Functions
· Enforce safety and procedural regulations in accordance with WMC practices.
· Observe work and monitor to ensure that employees conform to production or processing standards.
· Conduct employee training in equipment operations and work and safety procedures, or assign employee training to experienced workers.
· Perform tests using laboratory equipment to test raw materials, blended materials, and finished product to ensure quality standards are met.
· Interpret specifications, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.
· Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine product quality requirements.
· Requisition supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
· Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems or complaints.
· Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, performance, product quality, or efficiency.
· Administer and coordinate the technical activities and infrastructure related to the operation of the laboratory.
· Develop and implement Laboratory policies and procedures. Manage and coordinate operational policies and procedures; coordinate with staff on issues which impact laboratory services.
· Maintain quality checks on safety of laboratories, including biohazards and insure maintenance of the facilities according to Good Laboratory Practices.
· Assist in formulating and implementing the short and long-range goals for the operation of the laboratory; set priorities, assign responsibilities, and establish timetables. Project future needs and formulate strategies consistent with projections.
· Evaluate and recommend new techniques and technologies. Install and maintain laboratory equipment in compliance with federal regulations.
· Prepare technical reports reflecting volume of work, procedures utilized and test results; coordinate the preparation of reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
· Plan and conduct meetings with subordinates to ensure compliance with established practices, to implement new policies and to keep employees abreast of current changes and standards.
· Assure that the laboratory technicians are properly trained in Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and equipment specific requirements.
· Develop and implement quality assurance programs relating to calibration and maintenance of equipment.
· Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate systems to evaluate current and projected laboratory services and productivity of the laboratory.
· Safety Requirements: Understand and follow all WMC Health & Safety Practices. Report all injuries and unsafe work conditions. Attend mandatory safety training and request additional training as needed.
· All other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Duties
· Directly lead laboratory department employees in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable Federal and State laws.
· Responsibilities include but are not limited to: effectively interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications Required

Education and/or Experience
· Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering. (Preferred)
· 3-5 Years of experience in managing a staff of five or more.
· 3-5 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
