Supports the continuous operation of company’s Automation and Process Control applications, as well as collaborates in maintaining the process control network security, evaluation, testing and recommendation of new network technologies.
 
 
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Collaborates in the development and implementation of standards, procedures, processes, policies for the operations group including production, data control, operations, and operations support.
Ø Acts as a technical expert for the Process Controls systems (PLC, HMI, Modbus, etc.).
Ø Programs or assists in programming, testing, debugging, start-up, and optimization of Process Control systems.
Ø Collaborates in the design, deployment, and commissioning of the process control network.
Ø Installs and upgrades operating system software, logic programming software, communications software and HMI software on servers and workstations at various sites.
Ø Troubleshoots communications network problems.
Ø Supports life cycle planning and execution for PLC and control networks.
Ø Supports the design and installation of new instrumentation and PLC or DCS control system.
Ø Supports PLC HMI, Wonderware Plant Pax displays and Delta V graphics.
Ø Provides support for alarm management activities Works with a Process Controls Network team.
Ø Support all PLC’s, DCS within South Texas Assets– programming, hardware, and software.
Ø Supports the configuration, checking and tuning of control loops.
Ø Support hardware for loading racks and marine loading arms.
Ø Supports Tank telemetry, works with Tank Master and radar gauges.
Ø Supports different control systems such as Wonderware, Delta V, and Plant PAX. Hardware and software
Ø Supports Updates antivirus programs for systems within the Process Control Network – upload on the system.
Ø Responsible for System backup and recovery plans
Ø Responsible for monitoring Remote access for outside vendors – in combination with IT.
Ø Responsible for SilAlarm data management
Ø Responsible for maintaining PI tags and data collection.
Ø Maintains VaporWatch HMI
Ø Assist with system upgrade and patch management.
Ø Collaborates in the justification, budgeting and forecasting of automation and process control projects.
Ø Supports the refinery (safety instrumented system) SIS systems.
Ø Maintains Process Control system availability, prepares metrics to evaluate systems performance, and works with IT groups and users to ensure that service objectives are met.
Ø Support the implementation and maintenance of backup/recovery/disaster plans that provides the maximum coverage for systems software, applications, and user network data.
Ø Provides input and recommendations regarding business continuance issues and improvements to operating systems and processes.
Ø Monitors, ensures compliance, and conforms to all SOX Compliance mandates.
Ø Provides guidance, technical advice, planning, and project management both within the group and with outside consultants and vendors.
Ø Assist the Manager in developing strategic roadmaps for the Process Control systems in conjunction with IT and Terminal business management resources.
Ø Collaborate in the identification of network solutions through constant interfacing with appropriate management levels, clients, and vendors to ensure a cost effective and efficient infrastructure environment is available to provide essential communications for company operations.
Ø Provide Process network infrastructure support by troubleshooting and providing maintenance and upgrades.
Ø Support Help Desk and other Information Systems team members when issues arise, or a major problem is suspected.
Ø Provide after-hours (on call) support as needed on a regular rotation.
Ø And other duties as assigned.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMNTS
v Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience required.
v Knowledge of Emerson’s DeltaV DCS and Automatic Tank Gauging Systems. (preferred)
v Experience with PLCs, programming, ladder logic, and all aspects of inputs and outputs of the system. (required)
v Experience with HMI programming and its interaction with PLC. (required)
v Experience designing and implementing Windows Server Operating Systems and related components including Active Directory, NTFS Setup and Security, User Administration, TCP/IP with DHCP, WINS and DNS required. (preferred)
v Understanding of Cisco Series routers, switches, firewalls, VPN concentrators, wireless bridges, and wireless access devices. TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IRDP, HSRP, and SNMP protocols. CAT 5e/6 and fiber optic network cabling. (preferred)
v Experience with Autocad, RSLogix, Controllogix, RSView, FactoryView. (required)
v Ability to lead project initiatives.
v Excellent communication and analytical skills
v Ability to assist PC users in a pleasant, non-technical manner for problem resolution.
v Proven ability to recognize symptoms, analyze system data, and take corrective actions when problems arise. Also demands flexibility to work off hours and provide on-call assistance to perform system maintenance without affecting availability during normal working hours.
v This position requires good visual acuity, with a large portion of the time using a PC or other screen.
