Position Responsibilities
Channel is seeking to add a Data Architect to our growing IT team. This person would be responsible for the overall architecture of our data platform, implement data warehouse and data mart concepts, and design and oversee strategies for data loads, metadata, repository, and business intelligence security and performance. The Data Architect will also work closely with the analytics and development teams to ensure data delivery is consistent throughout our business units. This person is self-motivated and comfortable supporting data needs across the organization. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of re-designing and optimizing our data architecture to support our next generation of products and initiatives.
Key Tasks
- Oversee the data ecosystem and expand systems to leverage new data sources.
- Work with teams across the organization to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.
- Ingest data from internal and external disparate sources
- Transform and process data to increase its value and usability by joining/mapping data – and feature engineering.
- Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the data throughout the ingestion and transformation process.
- Maintain and publish documentation for the data and analytics systems.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re- designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
Education and Qualifications
- 5 years of experience working with relational databases including SQL
- 3 years working with unstructured datasets – and experience transforming that data so it can be leveraged by data science & analytics teams.
- Experience with data architecture and standing up a data warehouse.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, statistics, information systems, or other quantitative field is required, graduate degree preferred.

- Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architecture, and data sets.
- Experience modifying, processing, and extracting value from large and disconnected data sets.
- Strong project management & organizational skills.
- Strong verbal, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and working together with the team to solve problems.
Technologies
- Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Experience with big data tools such as: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
- Experience with building and maintaining data lakes
- Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools
- Experience with SQL and other relational databases
- Experience with object-oriented scripting languages: Python, C#, R, Java, Scala, etc.
