What You Will Be Doing
This is a full-time position working within the user experience team. You'll collaborate with UX designers, researchers, web developers, product managers and marketing leads to inform and develop focused interfaces that will be implemented across multiple ChargePoint experiences. You'll work on creating icons, graphic elements, illustrations and mockups for mobile, auto in-dash apps, station hardware, web platforms and other collateral to help support our customers and drivers in their everyday charging tasks. You'll help develop a design system of functional and accessible components to ensure consistency across web and mobile platforms.
What You Will Bring
You have impeccable attention to the details that make great visual design elements that support great user interactions and understand that design is about visual communication and not art. You have high proficiency with digital design tools (Figma, Sketch, Illustrator, Photoshop) and are well versed in conceptualizing, iterating and refining graphics and interaction elements. You should be familiar with working through user flows, wire-framing new layouts, as well as updating others work to provide consistency and up-to-date references. You have great organization and time management skills and know how to judge your workload and when to communicate issues that will become blockers to your deliverable schedules. You have a proven track record of collaborating with team members from across the company to deliver high quality, effective designs in a timely manner. As part of being a visual designer on the ChargePoint UX team, you will:
- Work closely with UX designers, product managers and front-end developers to design strong visual patterns, delivering intuitive experiences. Your design projects will range from original concepts, production work, wire-framing, iconography, visual true up and pre-visualizations.
- Be responsible for accessible, scalable and responsive designs across multiple locales and languages.
- Work closely with marketing to help express the ChargePoint brand via UI elements and iconography.
- Maintain the evolving design system and document evolving styles and standards.
Requirements
- Web/Graphic Design degree or certificate
- 5 years' experience as a visual designer/graphic designer
- Online design portfolio (professional work only)
- Proficiency in design apps such as Figma, Sketch, Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Strong understanding of web development but no need to code.
- Strong design skills: Ideation, exploration, refinement. Able to create multiple options of assets that meet project goals while working within established patterns and visual styles.
- Great team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate and take feedback to improve communication of design projects.
- Organized and detail oriented
Preferred
- Experience working as part of an in-house design team
- Drawing and sketching abilities
- Experience in creating presentations and distilling ideas into easy to understand visuals.
- Experience with illustration and animation.
- Experience with prototyping tools such as InVision
- Familiarity with MS Office (PowerPoint, Word) and file sharing platforms (Box)
Experience with data visualization.
