This is a newly created Technical Architect Software Development role is a senior level, individual contributor within our Wealth Management Engineering team. This team provides software/application development support to Wealth and Advice Solutions (WAS), which is a growth area for Schwab. 

As a seasoned Technical Architect of Software Development Engineering, you will enable WME to achieve consistent, predictable, high-quality delivery by implementing best practices, tools, metrics, automation frameworks, and provide oversight in the areas of software development and testing.

You will play a critical role in supporting key stakeholders across the WAS organization which is focused on high-net worth and ultra-high net worth retail investors. You will be collaborating with a team of talented and highly motivated technologists that strive to make technology a strategic differentiator for Schwab’s WAS business and their clients.  Your work will identify, prioritize and deliver on key technologies that will serve as the architectural foundations supporting future capabilities for the business unit.

This role will also:

• Execute on technology blueprints and strategies laid out by enterprise and stakeholders
• Collaborate with key business and operational leaders to develop architectural roadmaps
• Support and drive technology approaches focused on business outcomes
• Drive innovation to demonstrably lower IT cost and enhance profitability through transformative solutions
• Lead and mentor teams to develop and deliver well-engineered business systems via iterative solutions that include POCs and Prototypes in an agile development environment
• Refine existing process, culture and mindset for a product focused delivery to accommodate identification and implementations of patterns and reusable frameworks

What you have

Required:

• BS 15 years / MS 10 years (Computer Science or related field) in progressive roles within Financial IT culminating in technology leadership positions
• 5 years leading architecture initiatives and deliverables
• 10 years current hands on development, mentorship and management experience
• Diverse experience building scalable, reliable and high-performance applications using full stack application development technologies, enterprise level cloud technology, non-functional pattern implementations, enterprise architectural patterns, persistence technology including relational and NoSQL
• Experience developing strong data strategies and delivery experiences utilizing native on-prem and cloud technologies
• Excellent influence based inter personal skills essential for success
• Proven record of delivering high quality innovative solutions to complex problems within agreed upon budgets and timeframes
• Substantiated experience raising the bar on staff delivery performance and cultivating high performance work environments

 Preferred:

• Experience in a complex, large enterprise, financial services organization
