A member of the Corporate Controller's Department, Broker Dealer Accounting is responsible for the financial books and records of Charles Schwab Corporation, and related subsidiaries. Functions of Broker Dealer Accounting include recording income statement and balance sheet transactions, general ledger reconciliation, monthly, quarterly, and annual close, analysis and reporting, annual audit coordination, and other ad hoc related financial processes.

What you are good at
- Responsible for maintaining the financial accounting books and records of the consolidated parent company and various subsidiaries, meeting all deadlines
- Prepares and records monthly and quarterly journal entries
- Analyzes general ledger and sub-ledger account activity, prepare variance analysis
- Reconciles balance sheet accounts and prepares related documentation
- Prepares business unit level reporting packages for management review
- Produce accurate and timely management reporting
- Develops and maintains excellent process documentation
- Work closely with business partners in Controllers and various other internal organizations to ensure timely and accurate recording of business transactions and reconciliation of accounts
- Performs research to support business partner, auditor and/or regulator inquiries
- Supports annual external audit and other regulatory requirements
- Execute internal controls to ensure a SOX compliant control environment
- Assists with special projects
What you have
- 5-7 years of related accounting experience, some public accounting preferred
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance, CPA a plus
- Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting processes
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Familiar with the capabilities of large-company enterprise reporting systems, PeopleSoft Financials experience a plus
- Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Efficient time management skills to ensure compliance with established deadlines
- Proactive, results-oriented operating style with ability to identify issues and seek resolutions
- Excellent written communication skills
- Strong oral communication and collaborating skills, articulates views in a clear and concise manner
- Strong interpersonal and management skill with the ability to build cross-organizational relationships
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with the ability to balance multiple priorities
- Public company and/or financial services experience a plus
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.

CO Salary Range: USD $81,800 - $167,200 / Year
